The Dance Company for the Performing Arts

DCPA Covid-19 Plan

Pick Up/Drop off

-Dancers will enter and exit through the front double glass doors that will always be open.

-Students arriving early must wait in the car until 5 minutes before their class time.

-Parents/Guardians with children between the age of 3-8 are encouraged to wait in their cars on the premises in case their dancer has any separation or behavior issues, unless other plans with Breanne are made.

-Dancers must arrive for class already wearing their dance clothes. Restrooms cannot be used for changing- all dressing rooms will be closed.

Teachers and Staff will be wearing masks upon entering and exiting and adults accompanying a small child (dance with me and toddler tunes) are required to wear their mask the full length of the class.

According to the CDC an athlete does NOT have to wear a mask while practicing or competing. This means once class starts dancers will NOT be required to wear their mask, however this does not go for acting and singing which will be required to wear masks 100% of the time.

– Dancers and staff must use hand sanitizer upon entering and exiting the building, after shoe changes, or after any bathroom breaks.

Health screening

-A prior health screen form will be sent to each parent so you can perform your own observation before attending class.

-Anyone with a cough, difficulty breathing, or fever greater than 100 will not be allowed to enter. -A teacher will be performing temperature checks with an infrared non contact thermometer before entering the lobby.

-Anyone who has traveled overseas to a location not considered US territory in the last 10 days may not enter.

-Anyone who has been in contact with a person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 in the last 10 days may not enter.

-Attendance will be taken in every class to facilitate contact tracing.

Protecting your students

-Both studios will be sanitized daily as will all high touch surface areas.

-No bottles of water will be sold or stored in the refrigerator. Please send individual water bottles with the student’s name.

-Staff will disinfect all equipment, touch-surfaces, and entry points before and after each class.

-Hand sanitizer is available throughout the facility. Professional soap and paper towel dispensers will be filled daily.

-All common areas will be closed.

During class

-Upon entering the classroom, dancers will be directed to a space where they can deposit their personal belongings and prepare for class.

-Students will be released to their assigned personal 6×6 distance grid, one at a time.

-Dancers must stay in their 6×6 grid for the entire class. Dancers will skip a grid when classroom density allows, in order to exceed CDC guidelines.

-Use of mats, is prohibited until further notice. All props will be assigned to an individual person, stored in a labeled box, and will be sanitized weekly.

-Students must wash hands or sanitize every time they enter or exit a classroom.

-Class formats will be modified to omit any activity that would require contact between students or instructors (i.e. partner work, spotting, lifts, hands on stretching, etc.)

-For older students, barres will be separated 6ft and will be sanitized between each class.

When Someone Gets Sick:

If a student is in the care of DCPA,  a member of the DCPA staff will contact the parent/guardian immediately to pick-up their student.  The student will be removed from the classroom, and monitored by a member of the DCPA staff until a parent/guardian arrives. After the student exits the facility, a deep clean of all surfaces and items will be completed.

All information is confidential. In the event you are quarantined due to COVID-19, or unable to attend classes in person because of other illness, your student may join us for online lessons, if available, or will be welcome to join a make up class.

After A Student Gets Sick

The DCPA staff will deep clean the facility. Students will be notified that they cannot return to the DCPa facility until at least 24 hours have passed since recovery, which is defined as the resolution of a fever, without fever-reducing medications, AND improvement in respiratory symptoms, AND 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.

We will work closely with the Allegheny County Health Department to keep you informed of changes regarding COVID-19.  Our actions are based on information and guidance provided by the Health Department, World Health Organization, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  As we receive new information, our policies and procedures may change.  We appreciate your cooperation in this unprecedented time.  Our goal is to keep you, your child, our staff, and our families, as safe as possible.  It will take all of us working together to ensure the success of this plan.

Thank you for your continued support and trust in The Dance Company for the Performing Arts. As with the transmission of any communicable disease like a cold or the flu, you may be exposed to COVID-19, also known as the “Coronavirus”, at any time or in any place. Be assured that we have always followed state and federal regulations to limit transmission of all diseases in our facility and continue to do so.

Despite our careful attention to sterilization, disinfection, and use of social distancing, there is still a chance that you could be exposed to an illness in the studio, just as you might be at your gym, grocery store or favorite restaurant. Social distancing has reduced the transmission of Coronavirus. Although we have taken several measures to provide social distancing and contactless participation, please know that participation in The Dance Company for the Performing Arts instructional classes is at your own risk.
