DANCE INSTRUCTOR/TEACHING ARTIST

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Director of The Dance Company for the Performing Arts, DCPA Teaching Artists are practicing artists in the disciplines of dance, music, and theatre who are committed to working with young people. DCPA Teaching Artists are responsible for classroom instruction as well as communication with students, families, and administration on student behavior and progress. Occasional programming outside of a regular class schedule (competitions, performances and special events) are offered and may be required of a TA.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should demonstrate expertise working as dancers and teaching artists, and exhibit a strong commitment to working with young people, as well as an excitement about arts education. A ballet background is necessary for this position.  Must have availability to work during evenings and weekends.  Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously are necessary to perform a TA position.  A college degree is preferred.
